QE2 V’S QUEEN ELIZABETH.

I am really looking forward to the Diamond Jubilee celebrations this coming weekend and going into a bank holiday.

I think the Queen  has served our Country over and above what was ever expected of her and she has made sacrifices along the way. I admire they royal family greatly perhaps its an age thing!

SO HOW ABOUT LOOKING AT 2 OTHER QUEENS.

QE2 v’s QUEEN ELIZABETH.

QE2’s  interiors had public rooms that could be closed off by glass doors to create separate spaces, whereas the Queen Elizabeth has “open architecture” that lets passengers float between one room and the next, encouraging them to feel they are not in a contained environment but free to roam everywhere. The only exception is a small lounge/club room restricted to occupants of the more exclusive Queens Grill accommodation.

QE2 had 10 interior stairways, each coloured differently to help people identify exactly where they were , whereas on Queen Elizabeth three stairways have the common-theme carpeting (which is easier to store and replace).

Queen Elizabeth has a three deck high main entrance lobby/reception area whereas QE2 was a single deck in height.

Both old and new ships have ballroom-sized dance floors made of genuine wood and there’s still live music for proper dancing.

QE2’s cabins were larger and the ceilings were higher too with more drawer and storage space than those on board the new ship.

QE2 had a baggage room to store luggage on long voyages, whereas Queen Elizabeth expects you to bring less clothing since the emphasis is on slightly less formal attire now.

QE2 service was legendary the ship had – at least in the early days – real loose tea at bedtime and cloth napkins.

Queen Elizabeth uses tea bags and paper napkins (oh well you cant have it all).
