Captain Paul Brown brings home Britannia

Cruising with P&O has come a long way since the 19th century when P&O first started out over 175 years ago and WOW what a transformation, who would have thought back in the day that P&O would have created something so grand , classy and full of British heritage, something that P&O are already so famous for, by introducing Britannia.

You can see from this picture how P&O have  managed to increase the opulence and grandeur of the 19th century liners they used and use that experience into creating something even more magical on Britannia

So,Britannia has finally left the Italian Shipyard and is on her way to the UK to arrive in Southampton on the 6th March. The hype is huge and so it should be not only for P&O to stand tall and be proud of their newest creation but also for the thousands of customers who have already booked on her including myself.  It is now over to Captain Paul Brown to be at the helm of the biggest and most innovative ship ever created  by P&O Cruises. So what do we know about Britannia’s captain. Well I can tell you he was born In Kingston Upon Hull before moving to West Sussex in 2007. Attending a navigation school from the age of 13 he then progressed to the Merchant Navy before joining the Royal Fleet Auxiliary in 1986 as a Third Officer and then P&O Cruises in 1989 as Second Officer. Since joining P&O cruises he has captained Aurora , Artemis, Oriana , Ventura and Azura. He describes Britannia as sophisticated and awe – inspiring and from what I have seen of Britannia I can only agree with him. Many of you will already know him from previous cruises and I am sure you will join me in wishing him the best of luck with Britannia.

As we know already Britannia will travel to the Mediterranean on her Maiden Voyage on the 14th March but before then Britannia will be very busy herself. She will set sail for 3 inaugural events before then. 8th March for 1 night, 10th March for 1 night and 11th March for 2 nights. These sailings will be full of Travel Industry agents and media so watch this space for the real reviews in the next 10 days.

More importantly it has officially been announced that Her Majesty will be naming Britannia, a real scoop for P&O and very fitting. This will take place on the 10th March . I will be in sailing on Britannia on the 10th March so watch this space for my personal review. More pictures to follow but in the meantime I have added some fantastic pictures of the interior of Britannia to wet your tastebuds.
