Britannia’s Cookery Club Latest News

If you are like me and love to cook and love to cruise then you will already have a match made in heaven on P&O’s Britannia.  Welcome The Cookery Club on board. The very first Cookery School at sea that gives you the opportunity to learn how to make the most amazing most delicious meals in the company of some very talented ‘Food Heroes’ and then to sit down and enjoy your offerings. Who needs Greg and John when you could be your very own Masterchef on board with the very talented  James Martin.

So with James Martin inventing the concept and overseeing the Cookery School, it will be down to resident Head Chef Rob Cotton and Deputy Head Chef Lizzie Kenney to ensure its success and after reading Rob Cotton’s CV, I am in no doubt that a success is what it will be. Mr Cotton has left Leiths school of Food and Wine to join Britannia where he says many of the classes on board will reflect the ports of call and will also enable passengers to visit local markets and Vineyards in the morning and then use them for cooking in the afternoon. I think for me to have an opportunity to learn so much this way and then be able to recreate the dishes for family and friends at home will be great. I guess whether you have a savoury or a dessert palate, Rob and his team will have it covered. He has lived and travelled abroad including Malaysia and Australia and is an Expert in Far East Cuisine and will therefore be running a series of Dim Sum and Thai Street food classes.

A 2 hour lesson will cost £100 per person in the Cookery Club or £200 per person if hosted by two chefs, is it worth it? Definitely this brings a new meaning to an amazing opportunity in the kitchen and also a superb dining experience. You can book up to 4 months before your departure date so if interested then I wouldn’t hesitate as these are sure to be a sell out . There are 12 stations for 24 people for each Cookery School class.

In total 10 Celebrity Chefs will be joining our Food Heroes and  will be sailing on Britannia through out the year and will not only be demonstrating how to cook many dishes but they will also be hosting exclusive chef’s table dinners and participate in Q&A sessions and book signings.  Will a Celebrity Chef be on your cruise? well here is the full line up:-
