Wave causes damage to Crystal Serenity…..

A wave has struck the Luxury cruise liner Crystal Serenity during its sailing in the Mediterranean that broke windows and caused damage to the ship’s main dining room.

The incident according to reports happened at 0130 hrs on saturday 26th April with the ship on route to Monte Carlo from Spain.   She had already sailed through the Bay of Biscay, notoriously known for being ‘rough’ so passengers must have been surprised to experience this in the ‘Med’!

Crystal Cruises confirmed the damage to the ship was likely caused by a rogue wave; the line said repairs are underway. No one was injured in the incident.

A passenger onboard has quoted the following on cruise critic :  “Portions of the carpeting got wet. A few tables are out of commission for the short term but given that several people are dining at other venues and even off the ship there are no issues.

I have to say i’m glad I wasn’t onboard as i’ll be honest i’m not the greatest sailor if it gets a little bumpy!   When I was on Silver Spirit a few years ago sailing from Livorno to Sorrento I remember walking to the restaurant and when I got there had to turn around and return to my suite. But thank god for Reynold (my butler) he just said leave it to me and within a few minutes he returned with 2 tablets and just said take these.
When you feel this bad you’ll do anything.  Whatever these tablets were (maybe best not asking!!) they worked……..I slept from 9pm to gone 10am the next day.

How did these passengers feel on this Fred Olsen ship I wonder??

If you were to suffer from sea sickness there is an injection you can be given available from the medical center which according to some customers of mine is brilliant and works almost immediately.  I think a lot of it is in the mind though!
