Cardiff gets my vote as a cruise port!

Being welsh, I am obviously biased about this subject and with Cardiff being just two minutes from my house, I feel so many cruise lines are missing it as a cruise port.
My wife and I went for dinner in the bay at the weekend and it really is stunning down there. We sat in one of the restaurants along the front over looking the harbour, for a minute you would forget you were even in the UK. The Port of Cardiff is suitable for small to medium size cruise ships and is able to provide tailor made services to meet the individual requirements of each cruise call. Cardiff is a dynamic city and port with superb attractions, shopping and activities that will suit every visitor. It is the capital of Wales with access to city, coast and countryside. It is a gateway to rural Wales, a landscape of green hills and picturesque villages and gives easy access to a stunning range of attractions with a range of activities to suit any passenger.

Plans to launch Cardiff as a major cruise destination could be used to boost tourism. Port bosses ABP and Cardiff council have been  in discussion for a long time with at least three big-name ocean liner operators about calling at the capital. Cardiff’s main disadvantage is that only ships carrying less than 1,200 passengers are able to pass through the barrage and enter the harbour.  Silversea and Cruise and Maritime Voyages have both used Cardiff as a cruise port in the past, I hope others will also discover what Wales has to offer.
