It looks like 2020 will be the battle of the cruise “Heavyweights”

If you are like me you will love a good heavyweight tear up and here in the UK we have the biggest and the best in AJ at the moment. What I like about him is he does not duck any challanges and wants to take on all comers and he wants to be the best. It’s been a long time coming but it does seem to be that out of the 3 that claim to be the best they do seem to be on a collision course and after Tyson Fury v Deontay Wilder then the winner of that will fight AJ to be the ultimate champion.

So what does this have to do with cruise well for a little while the likes of Royal Caribbean and now MSC are churning out huge amazing new ships and leaving the likes of P&O in there wake. So P&O announced ther new ship the Iona which I have to admit looks out of this world and debut’s out of Southampton in 2020. There was such a massive demand when she went on sale that P&O must of been very pleased with themselves so that got them back to being a top contender. What was the response from Royal Caribbean well the response was we are going to send in the big guns and have just announced that the two ships sailing out of Southampton in 2020 is not only Independnce of the Seas but also the Anthem of the Seas the largest Royal Caribbean ship to do a full season sailing from the UK.

So there you have in the Red White Blue Corner the IONA weighing in at a superheavyweight 180,000 tonnes and holding a maximum of 6,600 guests, Boasting a rocrd of being brand new and fantastic design

V’s

In the Star Spangled corner one of the most popular ships in the world since her luanch in 2015 the Anthem of the Seas, Weighing in at an Impressive 169,000 tonnes and carrying a total of 4900 when full. Boasting Dodgems, The North Star and Ropcord by Ifly

So how will the contset go well I think a little something like this…………………….In the early rounds as P&O launched early with Iona and all the hype and did have some great prices and free kids places they got of to a flyer shocking the competiotin and taking a commanding lead. Anthem is now on general sale today and looks like it will be coming on strongly in the later part of the fight. Iona will rally but ultimatley the fact that she only has Fjord itineraries to offer stops her from deliverying the killer blow and Anthem takes the familiy Market with a mix of itneraires and cruise lengths and then delivers a TKO. Everyone seems happy and mutual respect allround and then we all start talking about the rematch in 2021.

What’s great about this as there can only be one winner us as cruise customers. The more big cutting edge ships sailing out of UK waters sound knockout to me.

Let me know who you will be cheering on!
