If Carlsberg did Cruises………..

If your of a certain age or more you will remember the classic TV adevrts of our Danish lager brewing friends were if something was done by them it was the best in the world. ( If you have never seen them look them upon youtube! )

Well if they did do cruises or at least an advert for it here is a wishlist some of us would like to see –

  1. Each cruise ship to have 10-15 single cabins or cabins with no single supplemnet.
  2. Gratuities to be included as part of the cruise
  3. Med cruises sailing out of more ports than just Southampton in Britain
  4. The option to have an All Inclusive Drinks Package if you want one
  5. Direct Flights from more UK airports for our Scottish/Irish and Welsh and people in the North of England
  6. More Adult Only ships or Areas
  7. A Universal dress code for everyone

I’m sure you will look at the above and think that I have missed so many things out and by the time I finish this I will probably come up with a few more myself. But the oes I have listed are the things I get my ear bent about the most.

Single cabins

Surely in this day and age cruise lines could start to look after singles more than what they do. I know they are building ships with massive capacity but It would be nice if they look after loyal guests who have sailed with them for years. Even new to cruise customers who are single should not have to pay double the cost most of the time. Even if it was just one one ship per fleet that would be a great start!

Gratuities

lets just end the debate about them here and now and include them in the price. The hard working staff on ths ships do deserve more and with some cruise lines increasing all the time probably because a lot are opting out then does it not make more sense to increase the fare slightly and then the vast majority would be happy!

Med Cruises from other UK Ports

Now I’m sure all the southern cruisers will be up in arms that I dare suggest such a thing but why can the likes of Royal Caribbean and P&O do a couple of departures a year from a Newcastle, Liverpool, Greenock, Leith, Dublin or wherever. I realize it is not as good from a logistic point of view but the publicity and potential new customers they would attract at some point surey it may be worth a punt.

All Inclusive Drinks Packages

How many times now do you book a Hotel and you have the option of every board basis from Bed & Breakfast to All Inclusive. All cruise lines have the ability to offer drinks packages so why dont they. What I think we dont want to see is every cruise has to be All Inclsuive but it would be great if at the time of booking if it was not included you could add on if you wanted for a fixed set amount. Maybe this would stop cruise lines doing promotions with Free Drinks that have greatly increased fares and are not really value for none or occassional drinkers.

Regoinal Flights

I sometimes feel really sorry for anyone who lives further north than Manchester ( Me included ) as people see lots of great cruises they would like to do and then we find it virtually impossible to get them a direct flight either on the day or from an airport that is within 150 miles of where they live. Marella are great for regional flights but that is because it is there own holiday flights so it would be great if when the cruise line plot the itineraires they look at a Charter option from a few regional airports.

More Adult Only Ships

Whilst we seem to be getting more and more hugh family appealing ships which are amazing and for a large part the future of cruise we are cruise lines forgetting who sailed with tjem first of all Adults. Could the likes of Royal and MSC change one of the fleet to be adults only or offer more adult only cruises for those whose children have grown up or just want a more sedate atmosphere or a ships without waterparks and the like.

Universal Dress Codes

It’s almost 2019 and they way we dress to go out to functons or for a meal or show is so different now to what it was even 10=15years ago so why are some of the cruise lines living in the past? Smart and I do mean Smart casual should very much be the order of the day with so many formal nights per sailing when everyone can dress to impress if they so wish. Whilst I dont gents should have to wear a Tux everynight I also think that we should not go to much they other way where we see people in vest tops or camouflague tops or bottoms and casula shorts.

So there you have it my plan for the ultimate cruise line if Carlsberg want to feature it in there next advert and bring it to life! So who’s with me and wants to sail on probably the best cruise ship/line in the world?
