Sailing in to your front rooms…

Following the recent final episode of The Cruise featuring Princess Cruise’s Royal Princess – giving a real look “behind the scenes” from the Galley to the front of house desk and the entertainment staff through to the bridge… comes a new Cruise Travel Show featuring the lovely Jane McDonald – who many may remember from her first appearances on our screens, 18 years ago, as being a singer on a cruise ship.. showing us a few different styles of cruising from a customer perspective.

As our company Sales & Operations Director recently referred to me as being a bit of a “cruise anorak” for my amount of recent ship visits – if he had seen my TV schedule for the last couple of days he would definitely confirm this..

Thursday – part 5 The Cruise

Friday – part 6 The Cruise

Friday – part 1 Cruising with Jane McDonald..

I must admit to having really enjoyed The Cruise and following the story of Lauren to become the new Bridge Officer and to take control of the ship. Some of my highlights were her Tender “driving lesson” in Kotor, Montenegro where she admitted to attempting parallel parking the £300,000 tender as “like having a new toy to play with “.. after 3 weeks intensive training she was taking on her first contract as 2nd officer and her comment on Friday of: ” it’s a 1/2 billion euro ship and a 25 year old blonde what could possibly go wrong” really made me chuckle.

Onto the new show Cruising with Jane McDonald – week 1 showed Jane embark the “supership” MSC Divina in Miami. I loved Larry who drove Jane around Miami and to the ship in a Mustang and just said “cruising is great you check in, put your stuff in your room and visit lots of places.. a resort hotel that moves !! ”

This show was on a whole personal level with Jane even showing viewers her pants… and a great tip for the ladies to “either go for Black & white or Brown & cream then you don’t need so many bags/shoes” and going back to the pants.. “black and neutral pants and as much Lycra as possible as you are going to eat !!”

This is to be a 4 part show with future episodes to include a river cruise on the Danube and an Alaska cruise.  This episode however showcased the beautiful MSC Divina including her stunning Swarovski Crystal staircases that I have been lucky enough to see on the Fantasia in Dubai as well as the Splendida in Southampton last year.

I also loved Jane’s style of doing a 45 minute Aqua Spinning class to burn enough calories for an additional 2 slices of breakfast pizza… The Yorkshire Tea lass going on a Coffee Tasting tour in Puerto Rico and a Shark Dive in St Maarten – that’s one shore excursion that I don’t think I would do.  From Ricky Martin to Pina Colada’s that’s all for now and looking forward to the rest of this series.

What has been your highlight of either of these shows ?..
