Ventura Day 2

The second day of our voyage we were docked in Zeebrugge, having visited Brugge many times in the past but always during the winter months we decided we definitely wanted to venture into Brugge during the summer, and of course to purchase some chocolate! we decided to make our own way into Brugge and P&O include a free shuttle bus to Blankenberge station which is around a 20 minute drive from the port, from here you can either stay in Blankenberge a wonder around the town or take a train into Brugge, children travel free on the train so this was a bonus! The train journey wasn’t too long again may be about 20 minutes ish through the flat country side of Belgium! Once you reach Brugge main train station you’re a short walk, ok maybe slightly longer than short upto 30 minutes into Brugge! You can either take a route through the park next to the river or though the quaint streets so it is a nice stroll!

Unfortunately for us the weather wasn’t the best, we were hoping for some sunshine so we could take advantage of sitting outside one of the pretty little cafe’s in Brugge, but no we had thick cloud and cold temperatures! This wasn’t going to spoil our time here though and we ventured into various chocolate shops , had a hot chocolate outside in the square whilst people watching and whilst in the square we noticed horse and carriage trips which seemed like a perfect way to see all of the sights in Brugge so we hopped in and had a great tour guide who commentated the whole way through all of the cobble streets and pointed out various buildings of interest, the journey lasted around 30 minutes with a stop and cost 40 euros.

We then made our way back to the port and was back on board just after lunch!

Benjamin took advantage of the children’s club again which he loved whilst myself and David tried out the new Glass House onboard for a glass of vino! I love the setting of the Glass House on Ventura, she has taken over the previous tapas restaurant onboard so is set with a Spanish theme!

This evening would be our 1 formal evening onboard so we all dressed to impress and set out to our evening meal in the Bay Tree restaurant, again the meal was fantastic and the staff so friendly especially looking after Ben!

We decided to head to Havana this evening to watch the singer, all we heard of Ben was ‘can Igo to kids club?’ , luckily they are open until 11pm and have various activities as well as movie time at this time of the evening, I guess this seemed way more appealing to him than sat with 2 adults watching a show! So we headed up to kids club, they were very very busy and we had to pop ben on a waitlist until there was space, they gave us a telephone number so we could call them from any phone on the ship and eventually they had space for him, we picked him up at 11pm and all headed in to retire for the evening after a busy day!
