Ventura Cruise Break

We are now back from our great little 3 night cruise break onboard the Ventura!

This was our first time sailing onboard the Ventura and we thoroughly enjoyed the ship, she is very similar to the Azura especially now she has been upgraded to have the glasshouse and retreat etc onboard and we loved the Azura so we were very happy indeed!

We arrived down at Southampton nice and early just before midday and check in was the quickest we have ever experienced no queues at all! It seemed if we had arrived any later the queues appeared and the cars we even queuing up to get into the dock so we were lucky to arrive early!

We had lunch onboard in the buffet and enjoyed a drink in the sunshine on deck whilst waiting for our cabin to become ready.

We visited the Children’s club to register Benjamin, Jumping Jacks was for 5-8 years olds and the staff let parents and children have a look around the facilities, the children club is located at the aft on the ship with the children’s splash pools.

Another first for us was having a 3 berth cabin as we travelled with my husband’s son, we stayed in an obstructed view cabin mid ship on E deck, the view was perfect as only had a slight obstruction by some of the lifeboat mechanism which was fine. cabin was spacious and suited us perfectly, the cabin steward would come in once we had left for dinner on an evening and set up the upper berth with ladders and when we left for breakfast in the morning he would again enter the cabin and put away the upper berth so throughout the day you had full space in the cabin. P&O even colour coordinate the bedding for children so if you have a boy they will use a blue duvet, and pink for a girl, and the steward even left a bag of jelly beans on the first evening which made Benjamin feel very special! But, he expected this every evening then!

We chose the early dining of 6.30 as travelling with a child and found the meals in the Bay Tree restaurant to be of a great standard and our waiter was always very friendly!

The first evening we decided to visit the theatre to watch Hotshots, based on the top west end musicals which we thought was a great performance, probably one of the best I have seen at sea actually!

We retired for an early evening as we all seemed tired after a long day and wanted to be up bright and early for our adventure into Brugge!
