The Jaw Dropping NCL Breakaway!

I was hugely excited for my visit to the Norwegian Breakaway, after following the progress of her being built, watching the amazing videos of how she will look and the impressive facilities she was due to have on board I can honestly say she was even more fantastic than I expected!

First impressions from the outside were wow, large with an impressive and colourful hull.

Once onboard we made our way to our mini suite cabin located mid ship on deck 9 , the cabin is slightly larger than a standard balcony but not hugely, bare this in mind! the bathroom is larger in size with a double size shower and 2 sinks, it was nice to have more space in the bathroom as most ships are quite tight! the cabin itself had plenty of storage, a large very comfortable bed, and a sitting area along with a balcony accompanied by 2 chairs and a small table. we were definitely happy with this cabin and could happily spend longer sailing in a cabin of this size and standard.

We also had a peek of the inside studios which are in a very funky area with their own studio lunge area and blue lights in the corridors, there cabins themselves had plenty of space and storage for a single traveller and even a window looking into the corridor with a frosted glass window and blinds, we checked and you cannot see in!

And if you’re after a treat, the spa suites are amazing! With a beautiful Jacuzzi in the cabin and plenty of space, definitely worth the extra!

We were eager to explore the ship, there’s an astonishing 27 dining choices onboard, unfortunately we only got to sample 3 of these, O’sheehans for lunch, which is an Irish style bar and diner, you must try the buffalo wings, delicious! For our evening meal we were lucky enough to be invited along to Cirque de Dreams Jungle Fantasy show and dinner and oh my gosh this was definitely the highlight of my stay onboard! The show is hosted in an area called the Spiegel Tent, once you walk inside it is kitted out to actually look like a circus tent with a yellow and red circle ‘tent’ roof, there is a round stage with tables and chairs located all around and a few booths further towards the back, we were located one of the front tables, bonus! The show was outstanding, it would be difficult to put into words exactly how great the show was but the costumes, acrobats and music were all jaw dropping, you sat in amazement watching, whilst the meal which was also mouth-watering was going cold, it was hard to take your eyes off the stage! For breakfast we took the buffet option in the Garden cafe plenty of choice, we opted for the freshly made omelettes!

For children and children at heart the onboard waterpark looked like a whole lot of fun! As was the children’s areas, very bright with plenty of activities on offer day and night for all ages!

The waterfront is another impressive area, with bars and restaurants spilling out onto the deck, we sat outside at Fat Cats having a drink in the sunshine! I could imagine whilst sailing in warmer climates this could be a great area to relax early evening.

Your evenings can be spent watching a show in the theatre including rock of ages, or dancing away in the uber modern Bliss nightclub, or even a chilled drink in the ice bar! 678 Ocean place is centred around a large chandelier and glass staircases and connects numerous bars and restaurant options.

There really is so much to see and do onboard this ship is a must, 1 night onboard just really isn’t enough time to sample enough of the facilities, if you enjoy plenty of dining options, evening entertainment choices, pool areas and all in all a fantastic ship with a whole host of facilities then this is the ship for you!
