No more £10 visa queues in Turkey!

That’s right, from 11th April 2014 the current visa policy for Turkey will change to an e-visa.

I have ben to Turkey many times myself , you have to make sure you have a crisp £10 note per person and stand in the long queue with all the other flights that have landed to get that stamp in your passport! But this is all to change, you will now have to get your visa online before you travel, just link the USA Esta system, you will have to apply online using the following website www.evisa.gov.tr and will cost $20USD. You must apply for the visa upto 24 hours before travel but 7 days is the latest recommended time to apply and the visa will last for 90 days. No paperwork will be required as the visas are electronic and will be automatically linked to your passport details.

It feels like the end of an era, no more collecting stamps/stickers in your passport everything is literally turing electronic now!

Even in these days not everybody uses the internet and computers, I know my parents don’t and if something involves the internet I have to do it for them, so in this way I think it is a shame that the process is ended as all passengers now will need to have access and use a computer before travelling to Turkey. Whether you are on a land holiday or visiting turkey whilst on a cruise the new e-visa will be required.
