Can my baby cruise?

If you love your cruise holidays or are planning a special holiday with the idea that a baby may be travelling with you it may be worth considering if your baby will be old enough to cruise. Unlike standard land based holidays the cruise lines have rules and stipulations, infants have to be a certain age to board there ships, this varies for the different cruise liners and also dependant on how many days your chosen cruise has at sea.

Cruising is a brilliant holiday choice for families with infants, the facilities can be endless with crèche’s onboard , blenders , highchairs, cots and more, the cruise liners will really ‘push the boat out’ to make sure your little bundle of joy is well looked after whilst onboard.

The general age to cruise is from 6 months with all the major cruise liners including P&O cruises, Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity cruises, Carnival, Costa , Cunard , Thomson and Holland America. Unless your sailing has 3 or more days at sea ina row then this age can increase to 12 months minimum.

There are however a handful of cruise liners that will accept infants from an earlier age of 3 months , this is with Disney cruise lines and MSC cruises. So if you really are desperate to get away that little bit earlier these are the cruise liners to travel with!

And not forgetting some ships and cruise liners are adult only and do not accept infants or children to travel at all so make sure when you are choosing your next cruise with your infant in tow you do a little bit of research or call us for advice.

I would happily travel with an infant, from my own cruise experience I think I would personally choose P&O as my first choice on company, I haven’t as yet travelled with an infant but potentially next year this may be the case so I am already thinking ahead! The reason I would choose P&o firstly is because I have travelled with them many times before and they offer great onboard facilities for families including play areas, baby food, sterilisers, cots and they are a British cruise liner and I generally would feel the most content and safe with a baby onboard.

Have you travelled with an infant? What was your experience like?
