All Aboard The Marco Polo

I recently went on a ship visit on Cruise & Maritime’s  Marco Polo.  You may recognise the name as it has been in the media lately with the woman trying to swim out to it having seen it sailing off in to the distance. Having spoken to a customer who was on board said the women was in the water for four hours. As they say, there’s no such thing as bad publicity as it got it’s name on social media.

My first impression with the Marco Polo is it’s not as extravagant as some of the bigger cruise lines, but I think the reason people cruise with CMV is the amazing deals you can get. I feel that once you have cruised a few times it is sometimes down to the itineraries rather than the ship. Having said that the Marco Polo is a lovely, small ship and has a relaxing feel to it.

We were shown around a few cabin grades and from the inside to the outside I found them spacious and comfortable.  Unlike the Azores which is now known as the Astoria the Marco has more shops, which on sea day’s it’s nice to wonder around. The pool it’s self was small but up on deck there is ample space to sunbathe. The theatre is a lot bigger too but what does seem to be the same across the fleet is the delicious food. We were fortunate to have lunch and there was choice aplenty and I finished my meal off with the largest creme brule I’ve ever had- definitely recommend it.

The good thing about CMV is they sail from smaller ports around the country. I learnt from next year they will b e adding Newport and Cardiff to their departures too.
