Regent Seven Seas name their new ship.

Luxury cruise line, Regent Seven Seas have revealed the name of their newest ship and brand new sister ship to their Seven Seas Explorer.

As part of the naming process, Regent Seven Seas Cruises sought suggestions from its valued travel agents, loyal guests and employees for the ship’s name in a sweepstakes held in September.

Seven Seas Splendor was chosen among nearly 2,600 unique names from more than 14,000 submissions, the company said.

The luxury all-suite, all-balcony vessel is due to enter service in the first part of 2020, 4 years after her sister entered service, will carry a maximum capacity of 829 guested with 542 crew to ensure the guests on the 56,000 tonne ship are kept happy.

Regent’s president and chief executive, Jason Montague, said: “The naming of a ship is an important milestone in maritime tradition and it is my pleasure to announce that the name of Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ new ship to launch in 2020 is Seven Seas Splendor.

“The extraordinary demand for Seven Seas Explorer has reinforced our decision to expand our fleet and Seven Seas Splendor will offer guests a fifth option that will provide unforgettable experiences in the world’s most compelling destinations, with the incredibly high standards of luxury and service that lure guests back again and again.”

Details of the ship’s inaugural season have yet to be announced, but take a look below at Montague unveiling the name of their newest member:

The six star cruise line currently host four intimate ships: Seven Seas Explorer (currently in Marseille, France), Seven Seas Mariner (currently in Key West, Florida), Seven Seas Voyager (currently cruising the Arabian Sea), and Seven Seas Navigator (currently in St. Kitts, Virgin Islands).

The main dining experience has been completely transformed, bringing together two hallmarks for the line: exquisite gourmet dining and unrivalled personalised service.
