Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam primed for launch.

Next month sees Holland America unveil their latest addition to the fleet, in the form of 99,500-tonne ship, the Nieuw Statendam. She will complete her maiden voyage, a 14 day sailing from Rome to her home port for the winter season, Fort Lauderdale. With one of the world’s most famous women set to be the grandmother in the form of none other than Oprah Winfrey, the is lots of excitement around the latest ship in the Carnival fleet to launch.

Oprah will be hosting a themed cruise on the ship too, a 3-night sailing, under the theme ‘Girls Getaway’ in collaboration with her magazine. Clearly, she has a huge following as this cruise is sold out.

If you fancy cruising on the new ship, she is doing a range on 3, 4, 7 and 10-night itineraries and will offer guests a sensory overload with a huge amount of art aboard, musically inspired areas and dining options to cater for every taste, I’m sure she will be a huge hit.

The Statendam will be the firm’s 2nd Pinnacle-Class ships and will be the sister to the Koningsdam, and I have just had some customers return from a sailing on the Koningsdam and they could not fault it.

If flying out to Fort Lauderdale seems a bit far, the Statendam will spend the summer of 2019 in Europe and the Mediterranean.
