Want to stay connected

How have times changed ?? We used to go on our holidays and send postcards or rattle around for pesata’s or drachma’s for the pay phone then we moved to telephone cards and now everyone wants to know can I stay connected ?? Along with sunscreen and Hawaiian shirts, an ever-increasing number of cruise passengers are adding laptops and smartphones to their lists of must-pack items

If you want to to be able to use your phone , tablet or laptop, so what facilities can you find on ship?

Most ships have internet access or WiFi in certain areas you may have to position yourself in the a place to get the best reception but they do tend to have hot spots around the ship . The signal is via the satellite so there could be times when it is down. Also, there are some types of software you can’t use, like Skype, a VPN or gaming due to the bandwidth issues. The leading  technical ship the ‘Anthem of the Seas ‘ will have new high speed internet services so may not be as much of a problem . Also dont forget that when you arrive in port it is very likely that you will find bars and cafes that have free wifi . At times we are able to offer a free wifi package  with selected cruise companies so it is worth checking if this come high on your priorities.

Staying in touch onboard  may not be cheap and Internet charges vary by cruise line, with some charging by the minute from roughly 35 cents to $1 per minute.   Most cruise lines offer a package though which will reduce the cost significantly .

To give you an idea we have put together the below to give you an idea of those packages available  which you can find here http://www.cruise.co.uk/guides/cruise-information-wifi-and-internet-services/?affref=betsyd
