Hey Alexa what time is the show …

Well I haven’t heard of Alexa at sea yet but as most homes now seem to have these gadgets MSC Cruises has officially launched the world’s first “personal cruise assistant” and named it Zoe!!

Every cabin onboard the brand new ship that launches next month the ‘Bellissima’ will find a Zoe on the desk area. At the moment the little gadget cannot make bookings or turn the lights on and off etc this is planned for the future but it will answer approximately 800 ship questions and in seven different languages.English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Brazilian Portuguese and Mandarin.

Zoe will be able to offer information about activities and venues on board and provide guidance and suggestions.

The great news about Zoe is it will be constantly “learning”, so every time it is asked a question it cannot answer, it stores that question and develops a response for the next time someone asks that question.

Instead of Hey google or Hey Alexa …. the voice command works be ‘Ok Zoe ‘ and it can easily be turned on and off easily by the touch of a button.

Msc will continue to roll this device out on the rest of the latest additions to its fleet when they launch.

As with any technology on board, Zoe is not designed to replace real people but just answer any questions etc before leaving the cabin and then this will free staff and crew members up to focus on other areas of the Cruise.

I am not a gadget person by any means and have only just got one of these Google device ‘s at Christmas and although I haven’t used it a lot as of yet I am actually starting to really like it. I also really like the idea of one in a cabin also, if you were in an Inside cabin you could ask Xoe what the weather was like maybe or you are planning your day and want to know what time the show is or the buffet restaurant opens.
