Baby Blues

Happy New year from Disney Cruise Lines .

Any family would be excited about going on a Disney holiday but a Disney Cruise well that’s another matter …..

Recently a  four-month old baby was kicked off a Disney cruise ship after falling ill and medical staff told her parents that she shouldn’t be on the trip anyway because of her age.

The american family  was on a Florida to The Bahamas itinerary as part of a group of   31  enjoying a holiday for a  family member with a terminal illness. However two days into the trip, the  four-month-old baby fell ill, and was taken to see the ship’s doctor. The baby was administered medication, however a couple of hours later the family were contacted my medical staff to be told that the infant  would have to be taken off the ship.

In the summer, the minimum age of passengers on board Disney Cruises was raised from 12 weeks to six months, however the company said existing bookings would be honoured if the ages didn’t fit in with the new rules.

This is heartbreaking for the family, especially as it is down to a policy change not in place at the time of booking. Cruise lines all have very different rules in regards to how old their youngest passengers can be. If you intend to cruise with a young child, it’s always best to check our official Babies on Board guide, detailing how old children must be on each cruise line to be a passenger!

This story has came at the very same week that Royal Caribbean and many other cruise lines were slated on how much they charge for infants on the Tv programme ‘rip off britain ‘.
