New baby, wedding plans & more!

What a busy couple of weeks I’ve had.

Last weekend was the anniversary of when myself & Adam first met 10 years ago. We headed off to Manchester to see my brother as his wife had had a new baby on 13th May 2013 so couldn’t wait to see him. His name is Thomas Ethan Shaw taking after my brother Thomas Paul Shaw & my dad Thomas Alan Shaw so it was lovely to keep the family name going. Thomas is the 1st name but known by the middle name. So Ethan it is & it really suits him.  Jessica is going to be my flower girl at the wedding, can’t wait to see her in her dress, she is so beautiful & will look gorgeous.

We spent the day with my brother Paul, his wife Vanessa, my niece Jessica who is 2 years old & my new nephew Ethan, it was a lovely day as I don’t get to see them that much as they live in Manchester & I am in Coventry but we get together as often as we can. I fed Ethan his bottle & settled him down to sleep then spent the afternoon playing with my niece Jessica, she is so beautiful and I love her to bits, we played with some bubbles I had bought for her in the garden then played at pretend kitchen, it took me back to when my daughter Kim was at that age – she is now 17 but I hadn’t lost the touch – I had so much fun.

Then on Sunday we headed to Aberdovey in Wales where we have been a few times, it is a lovely little village in Wales with a beautiful beach, not much to do & no phone signal so the perfect getaway really for a relaxing break. We stayed in a 4* B&B called ‘The Vanner’, we stayed here in October for my last birthday and as we loved it so much then we stayed again. It is a lovely home from home house with 2 guest bedrooms which are on-suite, clean & comfortable and they do the most amazing breakfast. We stayed just the 1 night as a base to have a relaxing weekend.  We arrived on Sunday about lunch time, dropped our bags at the B&B then headed out for a walk, we walked down to the lifeboat station and the beach then had ‘fish & chips’ on the sea front.  We then went up to the bandstand which is on a hill – with fantastic views over the village and sat here for a while taking in the lovely sea air & the view.

We had dinner at ‘The Britannia Inn’  which was a fantastic meal. Adam used to be a Chef so when we go anywhere for dinner I panic & hope it will be great or he will play the ‘Chef card’, the number of free meals we have had due to this, I have lost count. But credit where it is due, this meal was fantastic, large portions & very tasty, wish I’d known how big the starters were as may not have had one as couldn’t finish my main meal. Adam even complemented the chef as the meal was so good – we’ll definitely eat here again next time we come to Aberdovey.

On Monday on route home we visited a sightseeing option that John at the B&B suggested – ‘ King Arthur’s Labyrinth’ – this was a lovely little place with quirky shops and a café, lovely gardens & a few different tours you can do.  We did the tour of King Arthur’s Labyrinth which took approx. 1 hour, it was so interesting and guided us through King Arthur and his life in the caves. It started with a boat ride deep into the caves, then a guided walk through the caves – spooky but exciting. Adam loves his history so this was perfect for him to see.

On Tuesday it was my friend’s son’s 15th birthday so we went out for dinner with them to a pub that do a 20lb or 40lb steak challenge, if you eat it all your picture is taken and put on the gallery wall to show you’ve done it. Connor who’s birthday it was did the 20lb steak and ate it all, was a lovely meal once they got it right as didn’t cook the steaks properly first time round.

May is such a busy month for me with anniversaries & birthdays so always busy going out for meals etc, roll on June when I can chill out for a bit – I hope as Adam’s birthday & my best friend Tara’s birthday but as we saving for the wedding we won’t be doing much this year.

This bank holiday weekend my sister came to stay again with my 2 nephews Glenn & Connor as they needed to be measured for their suits for the wedding, they looked fantastic in them, Glenn doesn’t like having his photo taken so will have to wait till the wedding to see him (hopefully he will let us take his photo on the day).  Glenn is going to be giving out the button holes at the Registry office on the day of the wedding & Connor is going to be carrying the rings as ‘ring bearer’ as I want them to have a part in the day. They are my nephews and I love them dearly so I am pleased they are involved in my wedding. Connor tried on a suit, not the one we are having but just to get his measurements, then they gave him a hat & cane – so funny!!

On Saturday afternoon we went to Sarah & Wayne’s – our friends, Connor’s parents who’s birthday it was on Tuesday as he was having a party BBQ for his birthday with some friends & family – it was a great day and we all so much fun. Luckily the weather was great, the sun was shining and it was lovely & warm. We stayed till about 10pm then headed home as was really tired.

Sunday we had a lazy morning as slept in a bit then we went out for a walk to the park with the boys so they could climb trees & play football with my dog Patch – it was again a lovely day with the weather and it was great to be out & about. The boys love climbing the trees in the park so we took some photos of them.

My sister is staying till Wednesday as on half term, I am working on the bank holiday Monday but then have a couple of days off so we are going swimming on Tuesday then into town for lunch and maybe a bit of wedding shopping as I still need a few bits for the big day. We are also going to sort out the excursions for our cruise whilst my sister Janet is here so we’ll probably do that Tuesday at some point as only 9 weeks to go.

I will re-charge my batteries on Wednesday afternoon once my sister has gone home ready to work for the rest of the week.

If you fancy a weekend away in Wales, I recommend ‘The Vanner’ in Aberdovey for a relaxing break. There are really good reviews on Trip Advisor too which is always a bonus. But of course if you prefer to cruise – call me 0800 408 6108 oer email me at [email protected]
