Even Whitney’s to much at 6am

Here at cruise we like to give you a call when you get back from your cruise to make sure you’ve had a great time on your holiday and everything went swimmingly.  It’s a good way to hear about what the ship was like and peoples highlights of the trip.  I did chuckle last week when I was speaking to a customer who had just returned from her first trip on the Ncl Epic.  I don’t think the Epic was her cup a tea and she told me that in the mornings she likes to get up early and finds it quite relaxing to go down to the Library and read.  She was frustrated to find that when she got down there at 6am that there was Whitney Houston ‘I will always love you ‘pumping out of the sound system.  Now I’m sorry but I have to agree that this is just not on.  When you go on holiday it is usually because you are escaping from the hustle and bustle and the main aim is to have some much needed rest and peace and quite so why do some cruise lines feel the need to fill every waking moment with music and noise.  I’m not being grumpy (honest) and I like a sing and a dance with the best of them but I just don’t want it around me at all times.

I went on the Serenade of the Seas last year and the cruise was absolutely lovely.  I actually went with my partner and the children stayed at home so it was one of the first holidays where I could actually just laze about and get stuck into a good book.  I found myself sitting around the pool , book in hand chilled out to the max when all of a sudden the music starts blaring out . After a few hours of this we then have the guys coming out with guitar and steel drum singing a medley of classics which is lovely but just not always welcomed.  Now to be fair I could have got up and found a quite area at the back of the ship if I didn’t want this and sometimes it was nice but for me I just feel like sometimes please give us a break.  When I went on a Crystal sailing this was much more mellower and no bands or musicians singing which at times it would have been nice to have a little something to entertain in the day but much more peaceful.  I suppose what I’m saying is I like a bit of both really and that is the good thing about cruising usually there is always somewhere for you to hide away from the world or get up and boogie depending on your mood. There’s a time and a place for a bit of Whitney but 6am is definitely not one of them !!!
