Beautiful Sky Princess!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who was missing cruising over the last 18 months, so once the cruise lines started their seacations this summer, I booked a 4 night cruise on Sky Princess from Southampton in September.

The testing was so easy – we drove the car to the testing area, where they checked our passports and covid passes as well as doing the test. Then it was straight to the cruise terminal, dropped off the luggage and then into the check in area to go through our tickets, passport, insurance and covid passports. Then we went to sit down and wait for our results, to find we had already had the text to say they had our test and also the text to say we were negative. Next stop was to collect our ocean medallion and then we were onboard!

She is a stunning ship and you can see how the designers have taken their inspiration from her name as there is blue and silver decor throughout.

I decided to treat my Mum to a mini-suite – which was amazing! Would love to stay in one again. Definitely roomier than I was expecting and a lovely balcony to sit and watch the sea from. We were lucky with the weather, in that we had sunshine every day!

As usual, the food was amazing and the only difficulty was deciding what to have from the menu for breakfast and dinner. The staff all wore face masks all the time but for us, the easiest way to remember was if we were moving around, then we needed a mask. As soon as we were sat at a table or on a sun lounger, we could take off our masks and relax.

We used the medallion app a few times and ordered room service, so we could enjoy the view from our balcony, while sipping a glass of prosecco. After all, we were on holiday and on a ship for the first time in ages.

My top tip for Sky Princess, if you like any type of jazz/American Songbook music, is the Take Five lounge. It has the feel of a New York 1920s cocktail bar, with the longest cocktail menu I think I’ve ever seen! My favourite was Ella Fitzgerald, which is Grey Goose vodka, St Germain liqueur, raspberry liqueur, lemon juice, and simple syrup. It was so good, I had to take a photo of it!

I absolutely loved this ship and can’t wait to get back on board!
