Cruise and Maritimes Magellan sailing from a port near you.

On Tuesday this week I was invited for a ship visit onboard Cruise and Maritimes Magellan as she arrived into Liverpool to start her summer season of departures from my home town. Magellan has been offering cruises from Liverpool for the last couple of years and is hugely popular with customers not able to travel down to Southampton. Having only ever cruised on one other of Cruise and Maritimes ships the Marco Polo last December, I was to be honest not expecting much, I was however very pleasently suprised with how lovely Magellan is.

In a previous life she was the MS Holiday and sailed the Caribbean for Carnival until Cruise and Maritime purchased her in 2015, you can tell she was a Carnival ship by looking at her funnel as its very distinctive. The decor onboard is very light, modern and the ship was exceptionally clean as I experianced the tour around the decks this was something I noticed. She has 2 main restaurants plus a buffet and 1 speciality restaurant. The Show Lounge/Theatre is very spacious and you will find comedians, singers and theatrical shows each night of your cruise with 2 times to accomodate both dining times.

Magellan is  Adult only apart from a couple of multi generational cruises offered in school holidays that allow children onboard but has no childrens facilities onboard.

Cruise and Maritime offer a drinks and tips package you can add to your sailing for £23 per day with the 7th day free. This is great value but after having a quick look at the bar prices which are all in sterling. A bottle of Wine at Dinner is £15 and a glass at £2.80 you are not going to come off this ship with a huge drinks bill. During the Visit I got to sample some of the food offered onboard, I chose Beel Fillet Mignon and it was cooked to perfection absoloutley delicious!

With departures from Bristol, Dundee,Greenock, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, Belfast, Cobh and Dublin a cruise on Magellan is closer than you think. I have my eye on a little last minute 3 night cruise from Bristol to Liverpool in October with 2 days and overnight in Dublin for just £149pp!
