Columbus Part 2

Day 2 of our cruise on Columbus we docked in Amsterdam, firstly we took a canal boat ride then we had some free time to look around the sites ourselves, I have been to Amsterdam before so this time we just had a nice stroll around at our own pace. Back on the ship for some lunch just in time to set sail again around 2pm, this was just a short stay in port today.

Next day our port of call was Hamburg where we took a coach tour of the city. Having not been to Hamburg before I was very surprised at how big the port was, it was massive! The coach tour took us around some of the upmarket parts where the houses are very big, then on to the main town where we got dropped off, if you like shopping for designer clothes etc then this place is ideal it is full of designer stores. From there we took a little lake boat ride before getting back on the coach back to the ship.

Day 4 was a sea day which we started off with a tour of the bridge which was fascinating. Then we had chance to have a good look around the ship, such as spa, casino, restaurants, bars and library. I was very impressed with the ship and it’s public areas, the pool area was lovely although the weather was cold so we didn’t really get to use it but I could just imagine in hotter climate it would be lovely to sit out and relax.

Next day we docked in Antwerp, the city is literally just as you come out of the cruise terminal so very handy if you wanted to get off the ship and do you own thing. We started the day off with a walking tour which was great the guide took us round showing us the beautiful buildings in the city. After lunch it was time for a beer tasting session which I enjoyed even though I’m not much of a beer drinker it was still good fun. Antwerp is a beautiful city and even more stunning at night as you can see.

Antwerp was our last port of call as the next day we docked back into Tilbury to disembark and make our way home.
