My latest cruise…

I was recently very lucky to be chosen to go on a Fam Trip with Cruise and Maritime on their ship Columbus, which i was over the moon about as i had not cruised with them before.

The trip was a Five night European Cities cruise, sailing from London Tilbury, calling at Amsterdam, Hamburg and Antwerp. Out of those ports of call the only one i have done before is Amsterdam so it was exciting to be going to some new places i’d not been before. I was part of a group of around 20 agents who were on the trip and there was a good mix and everyone got on well so that was a bonus! (Always slightly scary going when you don’t know anyone)

So my journey started in Durham which is where i live, i took the train from there to London King’s Cross, i then got a tube, another train and then a taxi before arriving into Tilbury (if my train had been earlier i could of got the coach from Victoria to Tilbury which would of made things much easier as i did this on the return) but hey ho it was all part of the fun!

Once i arrived i was checked in pretty quickly, most of the others were already on board, so i made my way to my cabin first of all which was an Superior Ocean view on deck 10, i was very impressed with the cabin, great size, very clean and our cabin steward was very kind and helpful, my luggage followed me only around 10 minutes after which i was very impressed with. I then decided to go down to deck 7 to Connexions bar to meet up with some of the others, had a quick drink then it was on to the muster drill.

Afterwards we headed to the Dome observatory for the sail away and some cocktails. This was a lovely evening and the sun was setting and Magellan also sailed along side us in Tilbury which was lovely to see. It was then time for a quick shower and change before pre dinner drinks, then dinner in the Waterfront at 8.15pm, this was the late sitting which suited us well, the food i was ever so impressed with, i could not fault one single meal that we had in there, you could have up to six courses, which when your offered them it’s a shame not to try them so of course i did!

Lastly after dinner we went to Taverners, which is a lovely little traditional pub on board for more drinks (yes more drinks!) My first impressions after day one was that the ship was clean, tidy, had lots of good public areas to enjoy and just overall a really nice atmosphere.

I have lot’s more to tell you next time, so until then thanks for reading.
