Tragedy strikes Thomson

Treadful news coming out of the Canaries this week was the deaths of 5 ship staff on board the Thomson Majesty.

Whilst doing a routine lifeboat test disaster struck as 1 lifeboat fell into the water instantly killing 5 of the crew inside that vessell.

It just goes to show what we take for granted when on holiday, either cruising, flying, in a hotel, we are completely oblivious to the health and safety going on around us for our own benfits.

My thoughts are quite often with the families of crew as they don’t see much of each other for months at a time, but now my thoughts are joined by my condolences for all those affected.

Of the cruises I have done there has never been an incident thankfully and I’m sure they are very few and far between. Hopefully what has happened this weekend will be investigated and lessons learnt to ensure the safety of all crew and passengers for future sailings.

Here’s to hoping that this is 2013’s disaster out of the way.
