Sailing from London, or is it Southampton ?

I read, with a Small bit of amusement that on some itineraries (and P&O are guilty of this) that they use the departure point as London (Southampton), one can only assume the person writing this has no idea at all where London is. I can imagine, and I have been asked , some guests from abroad think they may just be able to “pop” into London for the day !

Now while it is only 80 miles or so, can you all of you who know this part of the county even think what traffic is like to get in/out of London for a sightseeing trip, or even worse, timing your flights to come in thinking you are leaving from a local port.

So is there to be a new port in Greenwich or not ? The outline planning permission has been granted, but for some strange reason everything just seems to take oodles of time after this, though if you believe everything Boris Johnson says , it could be in two years time.

I hope its a vast improvement, according to passengers who tried to get off in Greenwich from the Star, many nearly missed flights home due to huge delays !! We really need to get that right !

And Tilbury, Cruise & Maritime, Fred Olsen , both sail from here. Cruise & Maritime have the Magellan doing a lot of departures from here, again a lovely customer who just got back and lives south of London had to drive through the Dartford Tunnel, she almost missed the ship !!

Sailing down the Thames and in to London must be awesome for the overseas visitors , so come on London so them how its done !!
