Getting married on Board

After having a wedding in 2012 here in the UK for my daughter, I can honestly say I know what they can cost , then just about one month before when you think everything is done, up pops something else. I wish she had got married on board, Just one night in the hotel cost us the same as a mini cruise !! I cannot even remember how much the drinks were , I shudder to think. And as the mother of the bride the reception was, as in tradition, for us to pay.

I have picked P&O as this is one I get asked about very often, only one of the ships , Britannia, cannot do a wedding, they can do a renewal of vows but because she is registered in the UK and not abroad, she cannot do legal marriages.

But the others can, here is a small snippet of what they can offer

Attractive wedding ceremony with floral arrangements
Traditional wedding music (or your choice of music)
A romantic wedding ceremony at sea conducted by the Captain
Commemorative wedding certificate
Bottle of Champagne on arrival
Services of the on board Wedding Coordinator
Invitations and thank you notes
Additional 5 kg luggage allowance for both the bride and groom if travelling on a P&O Cruises fly-cruise holiday

Some of the packages can start from £ 1000.00 upwards, you can add different options to make the day even more special. This is just for the wedding package and you would still have the cost of your cruise to think of.

On Ventura they have the Ivory suite which can accommodate up to 40 guests, for a small amount of money you can arrange a private buffet for your guests and of course if you leave from Southampton the luggage is no problem !!

You will also receive the services of a coordinator from the moment you book and even when you get on board, they will help with all the little things and from all accounts everything runs like clockwork.

They don’t do hundreds and not everyday, when you book you will be asked to give three days that suit and you have to wait for whichever slot is free. A good one to consider is also the Mediterranean fly/cruise as this can be a one or two week duration. This way your guests can join you for the first week while you have your wedding, then the happy couple can carry on with send week as a honeymoon, make sense ?

Some of my family had to travel far and wide to Manchester for the wedding, I am sure they would rather have booked a cabin and had a weeks cruise out of it as well !! its a win , win situation.
