A One Day Holiday that didnt quite go to Plan.

At the end of last week I was invited by P&O to join them at Carnival House in Southampton to have a training session on the new Iona and experiance a one day holiday onboard Britannia.

I packed my swimming costume for a dip in the jacquzi and was looking forward to a Danish Pastry for Breakfast. Ive cruised onboard all of the other P&O ships so was especially looking forward to this trip.

After the long drive down from Liverpool. A quick check of my emails I discovered that Britannia had been delayed coming back into Southampton due to Bad Weather coming up from Spain, which had deemed it nescessary for her to slow down for the safety of her passengers. P&O had called all the passengers due to embark the next day to arrive 2 hours laster than planned but our “One Day Holiday” had been cancelled…

I was dissapointed having made all the effort of getting down there, luckilly for us there was a back up plan so my journey was not all in vain. Azura was also to be in Port on the Saturday morning having returned from a Norwegian Fjord Cruise and we would be able to have a tour around the ship the next morning.

Its been a couple of years since I last sailed onboard Azura and she had been refurbished since sailing on her. her decor was now more mordern and contemporary than I remembered and her cabins are still fresh and look good.

The newest addidtion to my last visit was the Retreat, an Adults only area to sunbathe and relax, this gated area costs £15pp per day and im informed people book into there and reserve the same sunloungers for the duration of there cruise. Although you can do this for just a day too. I think I would enjoy this on Sea days so you dont have the hassle of trying to find your spot for the day.

So an enjoyable morning onboard Azura and with my swimsuit still in my bag I watched Britannia sail in around 10.30am and thought I will sail on you one day!
