Independence Shock for the UK

Yesterday the travel Industry was shocked when Royal Caribbean announced the redeployment of Independence of the Seas for Summer 2020.

Independence has spent the last 10 years sailing from Southampton during the summer months and is hugely popular with Royal Caribbean customers choosing to sail on her year after year. After a multimillion dollar refurbishment this time last year she was certainly the most action packed ship to sail from the UK.

I was lucky to be one of the 1st guests to experience the makeover when she returned to Southampton last May. With the additions of the Skypad, Perfect Storm Waterslide, Laser Tag to go along with the Flowrider, Ice Skating and West End style production of Grease she is a ship to keep every generation entertained.

Customers and Travel Agents all over the country did not see this coming as sales for this ship have been incredibly popular with many grades of cabin already completely sold out so far in advance.

Customers already booked will be given full refunds and a future cruise credit to be used against another cruise. We have already seen prices for 2020 rise as the demand for cruises especially during the school holidays has dramatically increased.

Royal Caribbean have said the reason for the redeployment is due to increased demand for sailings to Coco Cay in the Caribbean to the Perfect Day experiance they have launched this year.

Perfect Day is an experiance like no other with the largest Waterslide in the US and lagoon style swimming pools, Cabanas over the water, Zip Wire over the Island. You can sail to Perfect Day with Royal Caribbean on sailings from 4 Nights to 9 nights from various ports in the US, and now if you miss Indy too much you can sail on her next Summer from Fort Lauderdale!
