The Globe Travel Awards

Having been invited as guest to The Globe Travel awards last week by P&O Cruises, I wanted to share my experience with you.

The Globe Travel Awards is a prestigious event held once a year by Travel Weekly newspaper. The trade votes for best airline, best cruise line, best operator etc etc.

Held in Mayfair London at the Grosvenor House hotel on park Lane, Orient Express British Pullman gave us the most extraordinary welcome ever, announcing as though we were boarding the train. The Orient Express staff in their uniform lined the stairs as we entered with a video on screen showcasing the British Pullman. It was a grand entrance for sure.

The awards were presented by James Cordon who was very comical and there was an amazing performance by Escala, the electric string quartet girl group from Britain’s got Talent. They too put on a fantastic show.

But not only do they commend Companies, individuals are also applauded for their services to charity and for going above and beyond. One in particular this year was Rubens House. I only wish I could give more to all these worthy charities.

Another highlight of the night was P&O Cruises special announcement which really grabbed the attention of the room. They announced their fleet of ships would all carry the British Union Jack on the bow of all their ships. This was announced by an exclusive video presentation followed by red white and blue confetti streamers flying across the room. It was a moment where you felt proud to be British.

So I thank P&O for inviting me, it was truly an exceptional evening of fine dining, dancing, achievements and of course humor courtesy of James Cordon.
