Halloween on the High Seas

Jack-O-Lantern in the Disney ship's atrium

My Favourite time of year, [ next to Christmas] is  Halloween. I love spooky tales, pumpkin carving, spooky walks through the forest with the trees swaying and the winds blowing, trick or treating and toffee apples [ not sure what they really have to do with Halloween but seems to be the only time you can buy them in the shops].

Halloween combined with my next love, Disney……what a treat!!

Halloween on the High Seas—The Pumpkin Tree aboard the Disney Dream

Disney cruise line goes all out for Halloween by decorating the atrium with a pumpkin tree, which magically transforms throughout the cruise. Children are invited to gather round the tree to share spooky stories such as sleepy hollow. Then there are the trick or treat stations set up around the decks and halloween inspired games. Spooky music from The nightmare before Christmas plays throughout the ship and in the late hour the Salty Sea Captain tells haunted stories of the sea. There are goulish delights to be had in addition such as spider cakes and spooky juice. I could think of no better way to spend halloween for me [ umm my daughter ]. But on Disney cruise line, Halloween isnt just for kids, the night time venues become a goulish setting for a costume contest and a villainous take over on the dance floor so spooky  fun can be had by all!!

Disney Wonder and Dream operate short Bahamas themed cruises in October and Disney Magic and Fantasy offer 7 night Caribbean options.

Disney cruise line are not the only ones to participate in this holiday, Royal Caribbean offer full Halloween festivities too along with many others such as Carnival and Norwegian Cruise Line.

If you cannot manage a full holiday, there are always the fright nights at Thorpe. With the terrifying announcement  this year that horror fans can be “bagged, kidnapped and flung in the back of a van” to be locked in the abandoned park for the night to be chased by bloodied disheveled production crew!!

I will definitely stick to the spooky fun and well away from the horror that Thorpe park provides!!
