Cruise to The Northern Lights

northern lights cruise

So having missed the Northern Lights on my last trip to the arctic I feel it only fair that I spread the word on how best to see this magnificent natural phenomenon so as many people as possible can experience this wonder.

As I have mentioned in a previous post this year is set to be the best display in 50 years according to Nasa so now really is the time to go and search for the Aurora Borealis.

There is no better way to see them than from a top deck on a ship out in the ocean with absolutely as little light as possible around you. So I have put together 2 suggestions on some of the best cruises to take to seek out the lights.

These sailings visit the town of Alta, the home town of the Northern lights. Alta is high above the Arctic Circle and with a crystal clear sky would be the perfect spot to see the Auroras.

You can also try your hand at dog sledding, [ an experience not to be missed ], snow shoe walking, Sorrisniva Igloo Hotel  and snow mobiling. There is also The Great Atlantic Ocean road from Molde, a road trip said to be one of the worlds best road trips!

Fred Olsen offer The Boudicca in February and March and P&O offer the Oriana. There is still availability for this season at around a price of £1250.00 per person out of Southampton. Availability is slim however so please get moving whilst there is still time.

If you have experienced this cruise itinerary before please post your comments and advice for future travelers. Thank you.
