Christmas with Santa!!

I am almost too excited to know where to begin……… I am off on holiday next week for Christmas to magical Lapland. Never been before so we have gone all out and booked the log cabin with fireplace  and sauna, booked the husky sled rides, the snow mobiles, dinner with Santa, the ice hotel and skiing. And breathe!!

I am expecting temperatures around -6 to -25 and so have packed almost every possible item of clothing one can think of, the only visible part of my body will be my eyes, and even they will be covered with goggles sometimes! I have experienced cold temperatures before of -30 in The Canadian Rockies and in particular the Johnston Ice Canyon which was by the way magnificent. But I have a feeling it is going to feel colder in Lapland.

Best of all, I am hoping to see the Aurora Borealis [ The Northern Lights ], I have my guide book like a “proper” tourist, which gives advice on when is the best time of night to spot them, it also, according to Nasa, is going to be the best display in 50 years, and I am sure they know what they are talking about!!

My sister has bought me for a xmas present, a head cam so I can capture all the action, that will likely be me falling down the ski slope, crashing the dog sled, and getting stuck frozen to the ski lift. Now I think of it, this present is more for her amusement than mine!

So if anyone has any tips that has been before I would love to hear them.
