Mardi Gras is coming

Mardi Gras is coming, and what better time for Carnival Cruise Lines to release bookings for the brand new Mardi Gras cruise ship setting sail August 2020.

Carnival have been no stranger to launching new ships with a new one each year for the past few years, Carnival Vista, Carnival Horizon, Carnival Panorama [ due out 2020 also] and now Mardi Gras as it is affectionately named after the original Mardi Gras cruise ship from 1972, the first and only cruise ship Carnival owned until 1975.

But this Mardi Gras will be somewhat different, this will be the largest ever in the fleet at 185000 tonnes compared to the Vista class at 133000 tonnes.  This is 6 times the size of the original Mardi Gras which was just 27284 tonnes.

Onboard features sound amazing with the Grand Central atrium, The French Quarter bar, Summer Landing pool deck, La Piazza, the Lido Pool, and the Ultimate playground.

The Ultimate Playground will feature a water works with slides, minigolf and wait for it….. a roller coaster, can it get any better??!!

It will feature the Havana pool and bar and cabana cabins, my favorite, although not sure the Havana area looks as good on this one as on Vista and Horizon.

Setting sail on its maiden voyage from Copenhagen to Dover 31 August 2020, Mardi Gras will head over the Atlantic to feature a New England sailing from New York before home porting in Port Canaveral for the Caribbean.

I am very excited for Mardi Gras and will be looking to book asap. Let me know if you need any info on Mardi Gras or any Carnival ships for that matter, I am a big fan 🙂
