Smooth sailing or Stormy weather?

I just wanted to reassure a few of you, who may worry about going on a cruise due to sea sickness. The main objection from passengers who are new to cruising is that if they feel sea sick they do not want to travel on a cruise ship.

The amount of references I have from passengers who have been on a ferry crossing and had a rough crossing and this is what has put them off going near another boat! If you have been on a ferry and on a cruise ship you would know the difference. The difference between a Ferry and a Cruise Ship is colossal. All ships have stabilizers on board to deter the sway that you will feel if you are not in calm waters, most of the time you don’t even know you’re are sailing until you look outside.

Having said this I would like to give some recommendations. To avoid choppy waters you should choose the best season for the destination you are thinking of, then the chance of choppy seas is very small. As well as this, you may want to avoid sailing from Southampton into the Mediterranean and avoid the Bay of Biscay crossing, well known for its rough waters. You can simply fly over to the port of departure and even enjoy a few days there before you start your cruise.

However, I would like to mention, diversions are made by the Captain where a destination is not accessible due to stormy weather. These are easily avoidable with the technology these days. All you have to do now is try and see for yourself!
