The UK has great cruise ports too….

I’ve just returned from a week down in Looe on the south coast. For anyone who loves Cornwall if you haven’t been to Looe you need to put it on your to do list.

We sat down with our family one Sunday afternoon after a roast dinner and couple of glasses of wine and very easily booked the week away on-line with my Mom & Dad. In fact we booked two holidays that afternoon within the space of an hour. For anybody struggling out there to make a decision on their holiday destination this year I recommend a few small beverages before you start looking, it makes the whole process so much easier. Before you know it you’re booked, but you then have to remember the following day where you are going, and who paid the deposit.

We visited our favorite hidden escape Polperro…..

And also headed over to Fowey. Now I did know that a few of the smaller ships call in to Fowey on their ‘British Isles’ itineraries so I was keen to see what it had to offer.

A quaint little village with a little castle in the middle and Dawn French’s £2.6 million house looking over a secluded beach. Combining this with quirky shops and pubs dating back to the 14th Century I can certainly say that passengers calling into this Port would have a wonderful time on a Sunny day, unfortunately this was the only day for us that turned out a little cloudy, never mind you get the gist I’m sure.

Even our dog Fred enjoyed a little retail therapy…..

So it just goes to show you don’t have to go all the way to the med to discover beautiful beaches and hidden gems. I also got chance to try out my selfie stick kindly given to me from one of our suppliers, always said I would not be seen dead with one, but have to admit we had great fun using it….
