It’s the best time to see the Northern lights…

It’s that time when one of the most spectacular natural events takes place in the northern hemisphere. Aurora Borealis, or more commonly known as the northern lights are clearly viable on a regular basis at this time of year.

According to NASA the light shows are likely to provide an impressive and unparallel spectacle for the next few months, due to increased Sun flare activity.  Indeed a recent national newspaper article featured a picture of a dragon’s head which appeared off the Norwegian coastline. An impressive blend of blue, green, pink and purple lighting up the night sky for miles, with magical dancing shapes.

.

If you have considered a visit to the Norwegian Fjords then this is the time to do it, as the added spectacle enhances your on-board pleasure.

With cruises sailing from Tilbury, Southampton and Liverpool during the month of March, it’s not too late to book.

If you prefer to travel during the summer months, you might not see the Northern Lights, however you will not be disappointed with the breath-taking scenery and midnight sun.

I travelled in June and visited the beautiful port of Geiranger.. Enjoy the Fjords and waterfalls, the most famous being the seven sisters waterfall which can be seen just before you sail into the port. Try a sightseeing excursions or you could choose to hike up the mountain like I did! What a wonderful day.
