Dynamic dining – what’s it all about?

Royal Caribbean have made some changes to your dining experience on board 2 of their amazing ships.

Anthem of the seas – which makes it’s maiden voyage out Southampton on 22nd April 2015

Quantum of the seas – is on countdown, less than 95 days until she sails out of Southampton to her new home for the winter; New York!

Both these ships will be offering this new unique dining experience.

Sales for the Anthem of the seas have been excellent over the last few weeks mainly because of the amazing all-inclusive drinks and free gratuities promotion. The subject of dynamic dining has come up once or twice in conversation as you can imagine!

Most customers are not bothered and open to this new innovation. Regular cruisers have had some questions around availability, however I am sure Royal Caribbean know what they are doing!

So what does it involve?

18 restaurants

7 are free or included in your cruise fare

4 are full service

3 are casual

You choose where, when and who you dine with!

There are no formal nights as such. If you want to dress up in your finest, then you select the formal restaurant to dine in. If you prefer a more in-formal approach, then choose one of the casual restaurants.

The Grand is where you will find elegance, excellent if you like to dress up and sample the finer things in life! This restaurant is free.

Other venues include..

American Icon Grill – a modern take on classic American cuisine with dishes like New England Clam Chowder
Chic – a contemporary restaurant with a modern twist. Dishes include mint crusted lamp chops and crusted black cod.
Silk – a taste of the orient! Asian cuisine at its best. Dishes include Saigon shrimp.

Is your mouth watering? Mine is!

So what if you want to push the boat out a little and treat yourself?

There are some amazing restaurants which carry a fee.

These include Jamie’s Italian – Jamie Oliver at his best! The menu looks fantastic!

Another celebrity chef inspired restaurant is Michael’s Genuine pub. James Beard puts his own twist on pub cuisine. Think I would give this a try. Nothing better than a pub lunch!

Devinly decadence is a venue in the solarium. Sounds healthy and should be if it’s inspired by biggest looser chef and best-selling author Devin Alexander. Again I would definitely give this a try. Maybe visit the main restaurant for a desert!

Wonderland – is it real? Just like Alice in Wonderland you will be unsure of what is real and what is in your imagination! It sounds like lots of fun to me. Could you resist?

The other restaurants are Royal Caribbean old favourites, chops Grill steakhouse, Izumi – Japanese and Chef’s table.

Finally we have casual at its best.

Café Promenade and John Rockets American diner carry a small supplement.

Casual dining for free includes..

Sorrento’s – casual Italian delights

Windjammer Marketplace – buffet extravagance

SeaPlex Dog House – enjoy a dog while watching the bumper cars

The Café @ Two70 – sandwiches, soups, salads

I question how busy the formal restaurants will be on the sea days and will some customer’s miss out if they don’t book in advance? The selection of restaurants is excellent. My advice is to book any that you don’t want to miss out on. I have cruised with NCL a couple of times and love the freestyle dining. I am guessing this will be very similar.

What do you think of this new concept?

Which restaurants do you like the sound of?

I would love to hear your views
