MP’s in discussion over school holiday dates as costs rise

I recently read that MP’s have been in discussion over school holidays and the hike in prices people often have to pay for booking holidays during this time.

I am sure we have all seen that prices generally, especially children’s prices, are a lot higher during the school holiday times and the discussions have come about to try and make things better for people.

Previously parents would be allowed to take their children out of school for up to 10% of the academic year but that has now changed and since last September head teachers are only allowed to let children take time off in term time under “exceptional circumstances”

There was some talk of price regulation but this was rejected.

The plans in discussion would give schools flexibility on the dates of their school holidays thus making it harder for holiday companies to “cash in” on certain dates.

I think that this is a great idea and hopefully it will help bring prices down for people if this comes in.

There are however some cruise companies that already buck the trend.  MSC cruises for let kids sail free all year round (apart from taxes, fees, flights and transfers) so hats off to them for making family cruising more affordable.
