Hello Your Majesty

Ok so as promised i’m going to tell you a bit more about the Queen Elizabeth.

I will admit i was a bit worried about trying Cunard. With it being a 5* line i was worried it would be a bit too posh or stuffy for me and Jonny boy. However we can both say it has been one of our favorite ships so far. The ship was gorgeous and oh my word the food.

We drove down the night before and stayed at the Holiday Inn Eastleigh. Great hotel and the taxi transfer is included. Check in at the port was very smooth. I hadn’t printed any of my documents out i just showed them the boarding pass on my phone from the cruise personaliser and this was more than enough. They didn’t batter an eyelid.

The cabin was a lovely size. We had a category BE cabin number 4148. This was towards the back but not right at the back. Barely felt any movement. Great wardrobe space. I had my own hairdryer as don’t always get the best power from hotel/cabin hairdryers but the one in the cabin looked decent. Both USA and European plug sockets. Mini fridge. Electronic safe very easy to use. Balcony itself was a great size for the two of us to just relax. The bed was the best I’ve slept in at sea. Lovely king size bed. Here is a link on my Facebook page for a tour of the cabin – Click Here. Please excuse the Yorkshire accent.

Gratuities on board are charges at $11.95pp per day. On the day before the end we did go down to say can we half this amount and she was absolutely fine with it.

As i’m sure I’ve mentioned before we aren’t big drinkers but Jon will have a JD and Coke or a pint of Ale when we are away. I stick yo my non alcoholic cocktails or diet coke. Here are some idea of prices on board for you.

Cocktails – $8.95

Mocktails – $4.95

Draught Beers – $5.95 – $6.25

Lagers – $4.95 – $6.25

Ales – $5.95 – $6.25

Ciders – $5.75 – $6.50

Wines – $6.75 – $8.75 for 150 ml

Sodas and Mixers – $1.75 – $3.50

She has 11 bars and lounges on board. Managed to relax or watch the entertainment in most of them apart from Churchill’s Cigar lounge. In which you can only smoke cigars or pipes in here. Otherwise there are dedicated smoking areas on board. You can’t smoke in the cabins or on the balconies including Vape’s.

There’s a very well stocked library on 2 levels of the ship with a spiral staircase. This is also close to the games area where we had a go at scrabble one night. Ideal area to do a jigsaw or two as well.

The Pool areas are located on deck 9. the pool in the middle is for all ages. Great size and two Jacuzzi’s up there as well. Towards the back of deck 9 after the lido buffet was the adult only pool. This area seemed quite large and plenty of sunbathing room. The pool here was also a great size with 2 Jacuzzi’s next to it. We spent a bit of time by the main pool as it seemed nice and chilled here anyway. And i was really chuffed to manage to get in the Jacuzzi bath for a change as it’s always generally full, especially on the short break cruises. Plenty of pool towels provided nearby.

Tune in next time for more on the restaurants and entertainment.
