My Weekend Away!

What a glorious few weeks of decent weather we have had (except today where it is now raining – the joys of a British summer).  So, my wife and I don’t often get a decent amount of time off together, so with the weather being the way it was, we both booked a weekend off and decided to go camping for the whole weekend!

And what a weekend it was!  I finished up work on Friday afternoon, and we grabbed a few last-minute bits and pieces and headed off on our little adventure with the car parked right up to the brim! We only headed local as Swansea is known for its outstanding beaches and coastline, so we headed down the Gower, and pulled up to Greenways Leisure Park which is just off Oxwich Bay.

Now most couples argue when putting things together, so we had visions of us, fighting before the weekend even began trying to put the tent up – as neither of us had used this tent before so it was straight out of the box!  But, we both surprised ourselves and put the tent up with no issues.  Whilst we finished the last bits of the tent, I started up our little portable BBQ and we just chilled out for the evening.

Saturday was a bit different, I had already booked to go to a Rugby match with a few of my friends prior to us arranging this trip, I wasn’t going to go, but my wife insisted (think she just wanted peace and quiet from me), I came back later that evening, and decided to visit the clubhouse, as there were Bingo and entertainment – which was brilliant – everyone got involved and it was just an overall great atmosphere.

Sunday then, we decided to just chill out by the tent as the weather was lovely, armed with my sun cream we just chilled out by the tent.  Later that day, we decided to venture out for a little bit, it was a bit windy for the beach and you had to walk down a really steep hill (walking down wouldn’t have been the problem), so we ventured out and found a lovely spot at the top of the cliffs, it was just peaceful.  Again we then headed back to the clubhouse, but this time there was nothing on, so we had a couple of games of pool then retreated back to your tenet and fired up the BBQ once again.

Monday, the day we came home.  Once again, the tent came down as quick as it went up and we packed up the car and before we knew it we were home with the usual ritual of in, washing on, and chill.

The weekend was definitely a good one, and one that we will repeat in the future, have you ever thought of camping – or do you prefer the glamping or just don’t like the outdoors?
