I was talking to a lady this morning who was keen to book a cruise until she found out that 5 of the 14 days were at sea. “I’ll be bored won’t I?” she asked.
Now I love sea days on a cruise. I’m on holiday, I don’t want to get up early every day. I’ve paid to holiday on the ship so I want to see it all and try out all the facilities and I also want to sit and read a book or sleep on a sun lounger. Cruises can be quite hectic holidays with a different port to explore on most days, often in a different country each day, so I like to make the most of the days when I can’t get off and rush around seeing all the sights. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing lots of places in one trip but I also like to relax and chill out.
Now that’s me and my opinion so maybe I’m just unusual as so many people I speak to are put off if an itinerary has more than two of these lazy days in a two week holiday.
Of course if I don’t want to just relax I could….
…sample a pampering session in the spa, use the extensive gym equipment, join in a pilates class, learn to dance, watch a film, take part in a cookery class, climb a rock-climbing wall, ice skate, swim, sauna, create something beautiful in an art class, listen to a guest speaker, make friends, have my portrait photo taken, shop, eat, try cocktails, play cards, play mini golf, take part in a quiz, play table tennis, taste wine, have afternoon tea, play croquet, watch glass blowing, have a haircut, sit in a jacuzzi, ride the bumper cars, sky dive, have a coffee, watch ice carving, have a flutter in the casino…..
or
…………just relax!!
So next time you see a cruise you fancy, don’t let the days at sea put you off, I dare you to be bored.
