Epic journey

This Wednesday I will heading to the Norwegian Epic for a 4 night cruise from Rome to Barcelona, I have been on her before, but to be fair it was for 2 days and I could not really remember everything about it. As it happens Norwegian Cruise Line was my first cruise line I ever worked for and so I have a soft spot for them. Strangely enough even back in the mid 90’s they were setting standards, way before the other cruise lines. For example they were the first cruise line to add speciality restaurants, I remember the Bistro which was based on French cuisine (they still have this restaurant on all their ships) you could book ahead and reserve your place I remember it being $5.00 per person (I have no idea what the cost is now but I bet it is more today !)

Their shows on board were the best afloat, I remember a company called Jean Anne Ryan produced these shows and I believe she is still heavily involved with their new ships. It was NCL that pioneered all these new additions that you find standard on most cruise ships today.

One negative aspect of the Epic that I do remember was the set up of the cabins, if anyone has cruised on this ship before they will know what I’m talking about ! enough said. What I am really looking forward to is trying out the different restaurants they have available on board, I have to say these certainly give out the WOW factor. The shows they have including Blue Man Group(I did see these live in Las Vegas and I was dragged up on stage to my horror) I will not let that happen again !

One thing that I did find surprising (not sure if this is true ) but they told me they do not accept debit cards only credit cards to set up your on board account, however you can leave a minimum of $100, so don’t get caught out.

Any ways I must crack on with my packing, and by the looks of the weather I wont be needing my speedos that’s for sure !

Hopefully if I survive the unusual layout of the cabin I will post a full review with Pics on my return 🙂
