Iona is ‘Gin tastic’!

Gin has made a huge resurgence in recient times and it is no wonder cruise lines have taken on this drink and harnessed its popularity.  P&O has announced that a local Gin distillery in Devon in the UK will produce a vast amount of Gin to feature on Iona when she launches in May 2020.  Also the same distillery will feature different Gins for the P&O fleet inspired by the ports of call their ships go to.

For a bit of fun what do you think some of the Gins will include or be called.  Maybe a Gin blended with Oranges from one of the Spanish ports of call or a mix with some of the ingredients found in Oporto in Portugal which is famous for its Port.

Iona will boast the first Gin distillery at sea and Salcombe Gin will distill and bottle their Gin for the brand. The ship will also offer two Gin masterclasses (at a surcharge i bet but still) One will be a tasting and the other masterclass will allow guests to bottle their own Gin.

However Iona is not all aboiut alcohol, she will have a four screen cinema, The Olive grove for Mediterannean dishes (washed down with a spot of Gin). There will be a Board walk diner which will serve burgers, fried chicken to name a few but theres also the main restaurant which will serve at least 6 starters, 6 mains and 6 desserts each night so plenty of choice.

And remember there will be a gym on board to work off that Gintastic food

Who said cruise ships are boring…..!
