Iona art competition

P&O Cruises has launched a photography competition for passengers to create two large pieces of art for Iona, its new ship to be launched in 2020.

From January 20 you can post pictures of the sea and sky , the specific theme the line is looking for on social media with the hashtag #WeLoveIona.  Nine images will be chosen for each piece of art, which will be hung in public spaces onboard Iona.

The art works will hang alongside Iona’s art collection, which will feature more than 4,600 paintings, pictures and sculptures.

Iona will be the largest ship ever built specifically for the UK market. Launching in spring 2020, it will carry 5,200 passengers and run on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), making it the cleanest in the fleet, too.

The competition closes at the end of February, with the results announced in May this year. Entrants are asked to submit their pictures in a square format. Alternatively, an entry form featuring digital photo upload, with a full list of requirements and terms and conditions can be found on the link from P&O Cruises Facebook channel.

The person judged to have submitted the best overall image will be invited to Iona’s naming ceremony in Southampton in Spring 2020.The 17 runners up will join a ship visit in Iona’s maiden year.

Mind you, the above statement from P&O only says winners and runners up will get a ‘ship visit’.  If I submitted an entry and won, i would like to sail on Iona and brag to all the passengers that that was my picture, don’t you agree? Dig deeper in your pockets P&O!
