The Grills

If you have ever sailed with Cunard before, I am sure you will have come across the Cunard Grills.  Basically this is the “top end” of Cunard accommodation on all 3 ships.  There are 2 types of Grills service with Cunard, Princess or Queens, of which Queens is the highest. The accommodation on both grills is superb, from the “normal” grill suites to penthouse and on QM2 the duplexes and royal suites. On the Victoria you can have the Grand and Master Suites too.

You can only imagine what the suites are like, they are really beautiful and come with complimentary bar, daily fresh fruit, concierge service, embarkation welcome, 24 hour room service, butler service in some suites, priority embarkation and disembarkation and even personalised stationary! The accommodation is not all that makes up this fantastic way to travel though.  Because you are a grill suite guest you have exclusive access to private areas of the ship.  The grills lounge is just lovely and this is where you get your afternoon tea served. In the evening you can go there for pre dinner drinks and a few canapes.  During the day you can always go to the Grills terrace if you fancied a little bit of peace and quiet and relax on the “posh” sun loungers.

Night time is perhaps where the grill experience really does shine. There are two separate grill restaurants, one for Princess and  yes, you guessed it one for Queens.  The food is superb, and you can eat at any time you like! This really is fine dining at it’s best.

Of course this type of travel and accommodation does not suit all. Some people say it is very much a class system on the ship. I can only speak from experience and say that when i cruised with Cunard I can honestly say I did not come across that at all. I think if you can afford to travel in this way, then why not?
