Suited To The Silhouette

One of the great perks of my job is going on ship visits.  Yesterday was no exception.  After a very early start I met my colleague Harry at Darlington station for our drive down to Liverpool.  The purpose of our visit was to see the Celebrity Silhouette one of the Solstice class of ships.

The Silhouette did not disappoint. She is a beautiful ship, very spacious, very modern, quirky in some ways too.  What stood out for me, was the choice of restaurants and eating places, there really is something for everyone. I did like the Qsine restaurant one of the speciality restaurants on board. The food is a bit like Tapas, so a group of you can sit, order on your I pads and sample. Food was amazing and I loved the way they presented everything on the table.  Another great restaurant was the Tuscan Grille.  Beautiful entrance, fantastic inside and the food was wonderful! We had a starter of mushroom ravioli with a parmesan cheese sauce followed by a wonderful steak.  As for the bars, well I can say I loved the Martini bar!  The bar tender set up all these glasses and then served us all different Martini drinks, poured from the same set of containers. I had the most wonderful Raspberry drink, I could honestly have sat there all day drinking it, problem would have been getting up!

So, apart from food and drink, what else is there?  I loved the library area, and really loved the lawn club. This is an area on the top deck of the ship and it actually has a lawn of real grass! Celebrity are the only cruise line to offer this.  It is a lovely area, where you can simply just sit and relax or take a picnic, or even partake in a game of boules or croquet. Coming back to eating (again) there is the lawn club grill so you don’t have to leave the peace to eat!

Want to be pampered whilst on board? Look no further then the Canyon Ranch Spa Club, you really can have everything there! If you wanted to you can go for the Aqua class standard of suites, which are situated close to the Spa Club. You can wander around in your dressing gown, going for various treatments, without having to go through the whole ship.  You also have the services of your own Spa Club concierge who will arrange your treatments plus you do have unlimited access to the Persian Garden, a fantastic oasis of calm. If that is not enough you can also dine in another speciality restaurant – Blu – wonderful!

I guess on any ship there must be something I did not like.  In all honesty not a great deal however, was not that impressed with the main restaurant, for me did did not have any wow factor and seemed a little sterile. Only other thing was the sun beds. Yes, they are nice ones and not your usual run of the mill, but they were a little dirty and could have done with a make over.

Am I being picky? Yes, I am however, taking these little things aside I would 100% recommend this ship to you. I chatted to some fellow cruisers whilst on the ship, they were from the states and did say the cruise had been wonderful and how much they loved Celebrity. Give Celebrity a go, and in particular the ship – you will not be disappointed.
