Sad Times In The Travel Industry!

I have to say I am in shock at the loss of Thomas Cook,  as most of you are aware that on the 23rd September 2019 it was the end of travel era of a company with 178 years of history in the industry,  with the very sad news that Thomas Cook went into compulsory liquidation.

My heart goes out to all the 22,000 employees that have lost their jobs, some of which are very close friends of mine and so many ex-colleagues that I have worked with over the years.

Social media has played a massive part in helping and supporting those affected, offering webinars for ex-employees of Thomas Cooks who are looking for jobs within the travel Industry.

Cruise.co.uk has also organised a webinar that will take place on Friday 4th October at 10.00 am.

I also worked for Thomas Cooks for over 15 years, they were some of the best days of my life, met so many friends that I still keep in touch with. They offered some great opportunities and fantastic perks travelling all over the world.

One thing I noticed though was the last few years I worked for them I had seen some big changes going on which was not good, that’s why I made the best decision ever 9 years ago to move over to Cruise.co.uk.

Since the announcement of Thomas Cook ceasing trading flight prices are rocketing through the roof,  I was checking flights for a customer of mine and they nearly doubled in a day, in time things will start to settle down.

It is certainly the end of an era and although extremely sad for all the staff there are plenty of opportunities out there!
