Would you like to own a piece of The World?

For some people, cruise ships offer a dreamlike existence — travel to international hot spots with world-class spas and restaurants just outside the door of your well-appointed room.

And for a select group of people who live on cruise ships long-term, that dream is everyday life.

Some buy residences on a ship to live there full-time or part of the year. Others rent for months or years at a time, forgetting about any kind of “off season” as their ship repositions to warmer waters when necessary.

At 644 feet, The World is the largest privately owned yacht on the planet. Those who live on board continuously circumnavigate the globe, spending extensive time in the most exotic and well-travelled ports and waking up in a new destination every few days.

The ship has a large living room area, gourmet deli and grocery store, a boutique and showroom, Fitness Centre, billiard room, golf simulator, putting greens, a full-sized tennis court, jogging track, a spa, swimming pool, and cocktail lounges.

There are six restaurants for dining that also supplement the kitchens or kitchenettes in most of the residences and dining ashore. For on-board entertainment there is a cinema, library and music performances. In addition to destination experiences (shore excursions), classes have been offered on board in topics such as dance, navigation, language, cooking, arts and crafts, music, computers, and photography. The World provides Internet access in each residence.

In 2014, the Ship will visit more than 100 ports of call in 30 countries. Longer stays in port average 3 days and allow Residents to explore these destinations, all of which are chosen for their  individuality, authenticity and allure.

There are 165 apartments on The World ranging from studios to expansive three-bedroom units and a palatial penthouse that comfortably accommodates up to 12 people. Prices vary based on size, décor, location and market conditions but I was unable to find out what the cost of each might be

If I won the lottery would I buy in to this Dream Lifestyle? Probably not because I would miss a nice cup of English tea and would not be able to complain about the weather!
